The Influence of Rock 'n' Roll in Fashion.

"Glam Rock (also known as glitter rock) is a style of Rock and Pop music that developed in the United Kingdom in the early 1970's, performed by musicians who wore outrageous costumes, make-up and hair styles, particularly platform shoes and glitter".

David Bowie one of the most iconic music artists in fashion.

The importance of a costume for a performance; from feather boa's, to man dresses, flares and a full face of make-up, David Bowie introduced androgyny into fashion.

"His willingness to push boundaries became apparent with the cover of his third studio album The Man Who Sold The Worldwhere he was photographed reclining on a chaise longue in a “man dress”

Teens who embraced rock 'n' roll began looking and dressing in ways that veered from the accepted norm.

The film 'Velvet Goldmine' is also heavily referencing the life of David Bowie, the rebellious androgynous style of the flares and male crop tops, based on the revolution in Britain in the 1970's with the Glam Rock era, and the Glam Rock Superstar Bowie.

The influence of David Bowie and his elaborate Rock 'n' Roll styles have rocked the Catwalk throughout many seasons.

He is especially recognised for the lightning bolt makeup strike which contributed a lot to his image.

"It’s probably one of those things from which Bowie can’t get away. His whole visual style has had such a strong influence. It’s come down through the generations, too, with people like Kate Moss and Lady Gaga referencing it."
